About the Author
Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, an internationally known expert on male-female relationships, presents the Love & Respect conference with his wife, Sarah, both live and by video to more than 50,000 people each year, including groups such as the NFL, PGA, and members of congress. With degrees from Wheaton College and Dubuque Seminary and a PhD from Michigan State, Emerson pastored Trinity Church in Lansing for 19 years. just were always butting heads trying to get the other to change/not understanding why we were always butting heads when we love

We just celebrated our 30th anniversary. This book and video series was the only thing that genuinely helped us. All our other marriage seminars, books, etc. focused on communication. We were communicating fairly well, just were always butting heads trying to get the other to change/not understanding why we were always butting heads when we loved each other and agreed on so many life issues. This book changed our marriage for the first time, because it helped me understand that my husband is just plain wired differently and MUST feel respect. He would get mad, but I'd have no idea why - because I was looking from a female perspective. Finally, as I changed my interactions with him, he felt respected and calmed down. He had always treated me very well, but after I changed, his feelings for me seemed to go deeper. I could go on but won't. I recommend this book and ministry to everyone I encounter.

Right inline with the truth

So it might sound strange to say this is one of my favorite reads and I've never even dated let alone gotten married. I often would watch my nieces when my sister and brother in law lived closer, and not being much into TV let alone know how to work their's, I would read their books after the girls had gone to sleep. My sister received a lot of books on marriage and being a wife after she married, and to be honest, they were so far from the truth it disgusted me. It painted marriage to be a benefit to a man that required complete submission of a wife's life to her husbands. Love & Respect is the only book so far I've read that is completely inline with the Bible when it comes to the purpose of a marriage and how to make it work. It correctly identifies marriage as a God ordained union rather than a selfish choice and focuses on the purpose of a marriage being a form of worship to God. I would recommend that ever couple to read this book before and throughout thier marriage.

This book really explains what happens between me and my husband when we get into an argument. With understanding, now we can move forward in our marriage. Also has great points to keep the relationship moving in a positive direction.
